Stuffed Creatures

Since I have been getting a few questions about sewing I wanted to share another previous lesson that I have done. These stuffed creature creations were part of an elementary sewing elective I did with 2nd-4th graders a number of years ago!

Young artists used their imaginations to create a drawing of a unique and creative creature. They then used those drawings to design, plan, and create a stuffed version of their creature. Students were introduced to basic hand sewing, measuring, cutting, stuffing, and mixed media techniques. The previous project before this was to make an emoji pillow so they had some basic background knowledge.

Overall I love how unique each one turned out- their personalities really shine through! Here are a few visual guides to help your young artists sew!
